wheel rim tubes
Please note that we do not sell tires via mail order. However, since we field so many questions about tires, we can offer the following comments:
Three rules of thumb for you to consider when purchasing tires.
- If you plan to have a motorcycle shop install your tires for you, it is quite possible that your most cost effective option is to purchase the tires directly from the shop that is installing them, and we recommend that you investigate this option first. Some motorcycle shops discount either the tire or the labor for mounting or balancing when you purchase the package complete. Other shops do not. Some motorcycle shops will not mount tires that are not purchased at that shop. Policies vary, so do your homework and decide what is best for you.
- If you plan to mount and install the tire(s) yourself, then generally your most cost effective plan is to purchase the tires via mail order from a big motorcycle parts warehouse like you see advertised in the magazines. These tire warehouses, due to their tire selling volume, are generally retailing tires at what a low volume tire dealer is paying for them. Alternatively, you may find a local motorcycle shop that will discount individual tires on a retail basis even if they are not installing them, or you may find a local motorcycle shop that you choose to support regardless of their tire prices. For do-it-yourselfers, we have a few tools and supplies to assist.
- Please don't ask us for a specific tire recommendation, what works best for one guy doesn't always work best for another. There are as many suitable tires on the market as there are criteria for selecting them. There are also more Moto Guzzi models out there than we have the time or resources to ride, so owners of those models will have more experience. We always recommend that you buy tires that match the manufacturers specifications in size as well as speed and load ratings. If you stay with a premium name brand tire that claims to fit your specific criteria (high wet grip, high mileage, cost, profile, appearance, load capacity, size, etc) it is hard to go terribly wrong. And if you don't like what you got, they all wear out quickly and you can try something different next time around.
