Bosch starter, re-built, for most Guzzis starting with V7 Sport. The Bosch starter was the stock OEM starter beginning with the 850T model in 1974, and was used on all Guzzi Big Twin and Small Block bikes (excepting some V65 models which used Lucas units), until the late 1980's. This Bosch starter can be retro fitted to the V7 Sport and the V65s as well. Like core exchange required. This item is charged a refundable $200 core charge, please see core and warranty policies below.
Some customers prefer to send their starter in advance, we then take it to our re builder for evaluation. Upon a satisfactory inspection, no core charge is assesed when we ship a re built starter out.
Our starters are rebuilt locally by a professional, expert, automotive electric re builder. All starters are completely disassembled, cleaned, inspected and tested. Bosch armatures are turned, checked for true, tested for faults, and re-insulated. Starter drives (Bendix) are inspected for wear and replaced as necessary. Field windings are checked for serviceability. New brushes and bushings are installed. A new starter solenoid is installed and included in the price of every unit. Cases are cleaned to bare metal and refinished. Units are reassembled, lubricated, and bench tested. These are not amateur "rattle can rebuilds". They are high quality rebuilds, backed by a 1 year parts and labor warranty.
Starter Core Exchange Policy:
1) Cores must be exact exchanges, Eldorado Bosch for Eldorado Bosch etc., NO EXCEPTIONS!
2) Cores must be whole and cannot be disassembled, or be missing parts.
3) Cores must have no physical, fire, or flood damage to housings.
4) Core armatures must not be "blown".
5) Core field coils must not be burnt from excessive cranking.
Upon receipt of a returned complete like Bosch core, MG Cycle will credit the customer $125. Upon satisfactory inspection by our re builder, we will credit the remaining $75. If the unit has a failed armature, or open field cores, the $75 is not refundable. A very high percentage of core starters do qualify for return of the full core charge. Only occasionally have we encountered cores that do not qualify for full core charge return.
Rebuilt Starter Warranty Policy:
All rebuilt units are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship provided they are properly installed in the application for which they are intended.
This warranty is void for items disassembled or tampered with in any manner!
This warranty does not cover any failure due to accident, abuse, neglect, or as a result of normal wear and tear. This warranty is from 1 year of the purchase date. The sole responsibility of the manufacturer pursuant to the terms of this warranty, if any, shall be to repair or replace defective products as indicated above.
Starter warranties are void when units are used with severely discharged or defective batteries. Such use may cause starters to malfunction. Starter warranties are void when starters are subject to excessive cranking. Excessive cranking is visually obvious as it leaves evidence such as thrown solder caused by overheating. If your bike won't start, give it a tune up, do not damage your starter.
We will not be liable for any labor charges or towing expenses in connection with the replacement parts under this warranty. The liability of the manufacturer shall in no event exceed the original purchase price, and the manufacturer shall not be responsible for any consequential damages for personal injuries or damages to property.
This statement constitutes expression of warranties, whether expressed or implied. No modifications of this warranty are authorized. There are no promises, terms, conditions or warranties other than those contained here.
